PUTRAJAYA:03/09 : Former Penang deputy chief minister (1) Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin is not off the hook over graft allegations.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is said to have put forward recommendations for Fairus to be charged, in the wake of new leads in the case.
The MACC recently reopened the graft probe which allegedly linked Fairus to controversial quarry operations in Seberang Prai.
The allegations of graft were initially made by national Pakatan Rakyat exco member Amizuddin Ahmat in February. The MACC began investigations and four months later cleared Fairus due to insufficient evidence.
Penang MACC director Latifah Md Yatim, however, confirmed that the commission had received new evidence regarding the case and had decided to act on it.
"We reopened the file in June and have been investigating the new leads."
